Well, we finally finalized our paperwork for our house in Bland - we are now in the remodel stage. We have finished Lacie's room, almost done with Johnathon's, scaped 6 layers of wallpaper off the living room walls - the previous lady LOVED wallpaper - we have had to scape every room - one more to go. We have been working on refinishing the wood floors this week - we have 2 more coats of top coat to go - plans are to be done with floors Saturday and next weeks plans are to gut the kitchen and put tile floors and new cabinets in - it is going to take a while to get everything done - but I will try to show you our progress as we go. The pictures are: Lacie's room before, middle, and finished, the living room with all the wallpaper and before we cut the wall out - we cut it out to open the stair case up, and then putting a clear coat on the floors.

The kids grandma has chickens so the other day we put up an electric mesh fence so that the chieckens could be out in the yard - the fence is designed to help keep preditors out - here are a few photos of my chicken farmers.

House in Bland!!

We have sold our house in Knoxville!! We are now in the procress of purchasing this house in Bland. It is 3 bedroom and 1 bath - it needs some updating as the house was built in 1945, but it has a lot of character and has been well taken care of. It has a 1 car detached garage and also a nice block building in the back. We are hoping to have it by the end of Aug and hopefully middle of September be moving in. Do we have any volunteers to help with the renovating - it is mainly redoing the entire kitchen and sanding and refinishing the hard wood floors. Please continue to pray for us.

I have started my very first quilt - I will keep you updated as to how well it is going. I am trying to make a crib size quilt for one of my dearest friends. The pictures are me cutting out my squares and then the sqaures laid out into rows. It is going to be purple, blue, yellow, and pink gingam. I also have a new Janome Memory Craft 350E machine, so I hope to share some of my work with you!!

The other night we took the kids to the Princeton Rays baseball game - it is a farm team for Tampa Bay. It was a nice hot night and the Rays won. We received free t-shirts as a promotion - free stuff is always fun.

Much needed update!!

Well, we are still living with the parents and that is why I have not blogged lately - I hate uploading my camera stuff to someone elses computer. Here is a few things that have went on lately. In June we went on a wonderful family vacation - it had been five years since Matthew adn I had taken a vacation - so it was a much needed break. We went to Saint George Island in Florida - we were joined there by my family - it isn't too often that a whole family can get together and do something like this - we were so blessed. We rented someone's personal condo - and had a great time - we had the bay on one side of us and the gulf on the other side. The kids loved the water and Lacie was thrilled with the world's largest sand box.

Now for July: First, We returned from Florida and my sister and brother-in-law closed on their new house, so we have been updating the house for about three weeks now - WOW! alot of work - painting, bathroom update, painting cabinets, and putting in 1400 square feet of new flooring. The progress is starting to show and hopefully this coming week they will be moving furniture in. Second, we received a contract on our house in Knoxville this month and are scheduled to close on July 31st - we are praising the Lord. We have looked at a few houses in Bland and are seriously interested in one - just please continue to pray that we follow the Lord's leading. Third, Matthew was voted in last Sunday night to be the Church Assistant at Kegley Baptist Church (our home church) - the pay is just a start, so it is a step of faith for the Lord to provide the rest. I thank you for reading my blog and as we get some more things settled I will share more with you. Thanks for your prayers!!

Moving Adventure!!

Well, we left Knoxville, TN (our home for the last 4 1/2 years) on June 9th and headed for West Virginia. We arrived about 8 pm totally exhausted - but thankful that we made it safely. We unloaded all of our stuff into my parents garage and we will be staying with them and Matthew's parents until our house sells and we can purchase one here. Matthew is going to work next to my dad in our home church, Kegley Baptist Church, and soon we plan on starting an Independent Baptist church in Bland, VA. We are going to have some fun times over the next few months - please just remember us in your prayers. Today we spent the morning at the park - the kids had a wonderful time. We met up with some friends and had a Bible story, craft time, good food, and lots of play time. It was so hot - 95 so the water was very refreshing. Enjoy the pictures!!

Kid's Special Day!!

On May 30, 2008, we took the kids on a very special outing. We didn't tell them where we were going - we just got in the car and took off. The first stop was Firehouse Subs in Fountain City to meet up Poppy and Grandma Setser who were on their way from Florida to Nashville. We then headed to Gatlinburg to the Ripley's Aquarium - WOW! all those fish are really neat. We then walked the streets of Gatlinburg for a while and made out next stop at Bubba Gump's Shrimp - the kid's thought it was really neat that their food was served in a boat basket. Well, the night didn't stop there - we headed back to Knoxville making a stop at the NASCAR park to go putt putt golf - we took advantage of a coupon for the entire family to golf for free. The kids were so excited - they had never putt putt. Matthew and I had so much fun watching them - Lacie would through her club down and clap each time she got the ball in the cup. Here are pictures of us at the Aquarium - didn't get any putt putt because we didn't want to keep up with the camera. Hope you enjoy!!

May 05, 2008 was a great day for the French Family - Matthew graduated from Crown College. Matthew started Crown College four years ago and now he has completed the Pastoral Ministry degree. I am very proud of him.

Lacie celebrated her 6th birthday!! She had a small party at school where her classmates gathered around to sing to her - she loved the attention. We came home and opened presents from daddy and mommy - she got a double stroller for her baby dolls. Then we headed to WonderWorks for the afternoon and then ended the day at Cracker Barrel. I just wanted to share some amazing news - Matthew graduates from Crown College on Monday, May, 05. He took his last two tests today - so now we just wait for the graduation ceremony. It is hard to believe that four years is over - but wow!! what a relief. Also, our little miracle girl, Lacie, will be 6 years old on May, 08. Hello! and thanks for stopping by today. I want to take a minute and tell you what a blessing Matthew and I had this past weekend. We had the opportunity to go home to Virginia/West Virginia. We spent the weekend with family and were able to see many old friends. It was very special to be with my whole family - it doesn't happen too often that my three sisters and two brother-in-laws are all together and my special little nephew M.J. (what a cutie pie). Family is a precious thing that we take for granted far too many times. I want to say thank you to my family for being so dear to me - I love you all. We also spent time with Matthew's parents and sister and her soon to be husband.

This weekend Matthew had the privilege to speak in Sunday School at our home church and also preach at his parent's church. It is always encouraging to see old friends and to see their faithfulness to church.

I challenge you today to stop a minute and think of the blessings of the Lord. We get too busy in our everyday life and sometimes forget how good God is. Psalms 34:8 "Oh taste and see that the Lord is good"

What a beautiful day we are having in Knoxville, TN. Spring time is almost here - YEAH!! The sunshine is so refreshing - it reminds me of my Heavenly Father's goodness. Even through tests and tribulation we are reminded to always look to Him. A hymn song that has touched my heart over the last few months is "Day to Day." I am going to share to the second verse with you:

Every day the Lord Himself is near me
With a special mercy for each hour;
All my cares He fain would bear, and cheer me,
He whose name is Counselor and Pow'r.
The Protection of His child and treasure
Is a charge that on Himself He laid;
"As thy days, thy strength shall be in measure;"
This the pledge to me He made.

Rekindled Love!!

The couple's retreat was a wonderful blessing!! The meetings were all very good, but just being away for a couple of days with my wonderful husband made it GREAT - it was like a honeymoon!! Matthew and I were both challenged from the Bible on how to improve our marriage - just because you are married does not mean you have a marriage. Marriage takes work and a constant effort to make it happen. It was also very encouraging to be around other Christian couples and to see their love for each other. God is good and His mercies are new every morning!!

Hi family and friends!! I want to share a praise with you. Yesterday, February 27, we were having snow showers about 7:15 am - nothing major just a little snow. Well, I headed out to school to take Lacie - no problems just some areas that it was really snowing, but still nothing was sticking. However, after I dropped Lacie off about 7:45 I started back home and the roads were totally covered with snow - at least 2" and extremely slick - it was amazing how fast it was coming down. Anyway - the roads were extremely bad - worse that I have been on in a long time - so I am heading home and all the sudden my car goes out of control - I was sliding everywhere and when I was just about to have an accident the two cars in front on me just slid right off in the ditch so I was able to slid by them without having an accident. I really believe the Lord just moved the cars out of the way because it could have been a bad accident. Have a nice day!!

Hi family and friends!! I hope everyone had a special Valentine's day - always nice to feel loved and special. Well, I want to share some things that are on my heart with you as well as some pictures from the week. Matthew and I allowed the house in Rocky Gap VA to go - meaning we dropped our contract on it. Our house is on the market and awaiting to be sold - we have had several people look at it, but really no word about it. We are trusting the Lord for his direction. Proverbs 16:26 "A man's heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps." We are trying to follow in the Lord's steps - please pray for us as we seek His will. Another thing that I would like to share with you is in everything we do and say we need to give praise to the Lord. Matthew and I have been tested by several things lately and we need wisdom and grace - a verse that has spoken to our hearts is: Psalm 34:19 "Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all." The Lord is showing himself to us , and we want to be ready to do what he wants us to do. It is amazing how one day we think he is leading in one direction and as we travel down the path all of the sudden we are stopped - maybe for just a short period or He gives us new direction. I want my life to be what Christ wants it to be; He is our hope and joy. Well, I just wanted to share what was on my heart - it is really hard to put in words, but I hope you understand. The pictures are from Lacie's Valentine Party, the kids at Bounce USA, and some of Sunday morning. Enjoy them!! I do ask for you to pray for us as we near Matthew's graduation (May 05) that we will know what we are called to do and that we do it happily unto the Lord. We love you!!

MRI Results!!

Hello family and friends!! I hope this finds everyone doing well. Lacie had a MRI on Friday, February 8. She went today for a check-up with her neurologist and once again we were told what an amazing child she is. God truly has spared her life from a lot of difficulty. The MRI showed more damage to her brain than we ever knew was there. We knew her right side was severely damaged, but today we found out the news that her brain stem was also damaged. Her left side has some scar tissue, but seems to be fully functioning. Once again, the Dr. said with this kind of report, Lacie's health does not match up - he said "I just can't explain it." Matthew and I are very grateful that the Lord has spared Lacie's life and has allowed her to live such a normal life. Thanks for all the prayers!!

I just want to share with you my very first apple pie. I made it for Saturday night's supper. We invited friends to come over - I made a pork loin, broccoli & cauliflower salad, and corn casserole. We also enjoyed homemade bread and yes, apple pie with vanilla ice cream. It was a great night of fun and a great encouragement.

Thursday Night Hockey Game!!

We went and watched the Knoxville hockey team - Icebears. This was our first time going to a hockey game - it was very exciting. Our seats were right behind the glass, so we were very close to the action. The kids thought it was great when the players hit the glass - they just laughed and carried on. We came home with five hockey pucks - I think everyone thought we needed one. Enjoy the pictures!!

Hello again! I am writing to share with you about our weekend adventure. We traveled to Virginia on Friday and looked at houses - and the good news is that we have found us a new location. We are very excited. The house is almost 1400 square feet and is in move in condition - I am so thankful that I do not have to redo another house. However, we have encountered a "bump in the road" with our house. The people who were going to buy it backed out on us, so we have now listed it with Assist2Sell. Please pray that our house in Knoxville will sell very quickly - we do not want to have to make two house payments. Here is a picture of the house in Rocky Gap that as of February 27th will be the new home of the French Family. God bless you and thanks for reading my blog.

Weekend Plans!!

Weekend plans - Well where do I begin? - I guess anywhere will do!! We were going to list our house on the market on January 22, but on Monday night, January 21 our house went under contract (with NO realtor). WOW! God is good. So, here are the weekend plans - Friday the 25th will start with Lacie celebrating the 100th day of school - BIG day planned at Temple Baptist Academy. We will pick her up from school at noon and head for Bland, Virginia to look at numerous houses. Please pray that we will have wisdom as we look at these houses. We plan on heading back to Knoxville on Sunday afternoon - it will be a fast and busy trip, but we are very excited.

Hi Family and Friends! I am writing to update everyone on what is going on with the French Family. We have officially listed our house for sale. Matthew graduates from Crown College on May 5th - Praise the Lord!! We are planning on moving to Bland County Virginia. We are not sure what the Lord will have for us, but we feel that He is leading us this way. Matthew's desire is to start an Independent Baptist church in Bland County. Please pray for us that we will be willing to follow the Lord's leading in this move and that Matthew has a great last semester.

Well, It was Friday night and we were all home together, so we had a family game night. I popped some popcorn, and we broke out Candy Land and Memory. We played for over an hour. The kids really enjoyed playing the games, and Matthew and I had a good time watching them get so excited over everything.

Hi friends!! I have some big news to share with you. Lacie had a check up today with her growth specialist and dumb roll please.... She has gained 2 pounds putting her at 34 lbs and grew 1 1/2 inches makes her stand 42.5 inches tall. This growth spurt has been over 3 months. We are happy and thankful that she is growing.

Beautiful Blessings!!

Here are some pictures of our Beautiful Blessings from God. Here is a small testimony of our little ones:

Lacie Michelle was born May, 08, 2002. She was born at 27 weeks - weighing in at 1 lb 11 oz. She was in the NICU for three months. As a result of her prematurity, she suffered major brain damage resulting in 6 brain surgeries (to date: more could come in the future) - the Dr.'s told us that she would have many troubles in life and probably would not be able to live a normal life. Well, I am here to testify that she is a miracle. She is 5 1/2 years old now and attending school. However, she does have some mild Cerebral Palsy and suffers from epilepsy. A verse the Lord has given to me for strength and comfort is John 11:4 "This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby." Please pray for Lacie that she will be strong and that we continue to get her the medical help that she needs.

Johnathon Robert was born on November, 12, 2003 - same day at his Grandpa Setser and his mother - it made for a very special birthday present. He is named after one of my closest childhood friends, Jonathan Bradley, who went to be with the Lord at the age nine. Our Johnathon weighed in at 6 lb 13 oz. He was born with his PDA valve open and some under developed lungs; therefore, he spent two weeks in the NICU. He is now 4 years old and doing very well. God is good and has given Johnathon a clean health report. He is ready for school - he asks me regularly when he will be able to go to school - please pray that he will be able to attend K-4 at Temple Baptist Academy this coming Fall.

We ask you to remember Lacie and Johnathon in your prayers for their health and strength. Please pray for Matthew and I as we work together to train them to serve the Lord.

A Year of New Beginnnings!!

Hello friends! It is time to update the blog seeing that it has been nearly a year since the last post. Actually, I am just learning how to do the blog thing myself, so we will see how it goes. It is hard to believe that is it already the year of 2008. Matthew will begin his final semester at Crown College on Thursday the 10th - wow! how the last 3 years have went by. Lacie has been in K-4 this year at Temple Baptist Academy - she is doing so well. She has learned Bible verses, ABCs, numbers, and many other wonderful things. Her teacher, Mrs. Bodwell, has been a great help to her. Johnathon is taking violin lessons from Angel Phillips - he has almost finished learning his first song. We are very proud of him. Here are some prayer request that we would appreciate your help praying about:

Matthew would like to pursue his Master's degree, so we need direction as to where to continue his education. We have checked several places, and we feel like we may stay put at Crown for another year.

Putting Lacie and Johnathon both in the Academy next year - Lacie K-5 and Johnathon K-4.

Matthew as he is self-employed (Liberty Flooring - floor installation business) - that the Lord will really bless us with work.

Lacie and her health - she has some medical issues that we are trying to work out. She struggles with seizures, and she has developed a pattern of having seizures about every two weeks. She will have two really good weeks and then 1 - 3 bad days.

I will do my best to update this blog regularly - I am excited about sharing what the Lord is doing on our lives. Enjoy the pictures and thanks for taking time to look at our blog
